“Social entrepreneurs are not content with just giving people fish or teaching people how to fish. They will not rest until they have revolutionized the fishing industry.” - Bill Drayton.

To make a longer-lasting difference and maximise the impact of available resources, social change ultimately must address the root causes and systemic drivers that are producing a problem. By taking an indirect impact approach such as changing policies or industry norms and creating new or access to existing markets, social entrepreneurs can address these underlying dynamics and achieve a significantly greater change than a purely direct impact on their beneficiaries could.

The content of the online course of this module is curated for Ashoka Fellows, but open to other participants subject to a selection. The online meeting / workshop happening at the end of the online course is open to the Ashoka Fellows who participated to the online part and to Ashoka Support Network members, Ashoka Partners and other Key Ecosystem Players who want to join the workshop as advisors and experts, to provide mentoring and feedback to the Ashoka Fellows on their strategies. This is an opportunity to meet some of the most innovative social entrepreneurs and deep dive into their system change strategy for greater social impact.

If you are a member of the Ashoka Support Network, partner or key ecosystem player to Ashoka, please apply through the dedicated button or refer to the Partner With Us page: we will be happy to co-create ways to offer this content to you and your stakeholders.

Why you should apply:

This is the space where we share back the insights Ashoka has learned from its Fellows on their most powerful strategies to achieve system change. Participants analyze in depth the system they are aiming to change, define their targeted system change, and explore a wide menu of interventions to scale their impact on the system without necessarily having to grow their organizations.

Participants leave with a deeper understanding of and refined focus on system change. They know how to apply relevant tools and frameworks with their teams and stakeholders. In addition, the online course aims to create a community of peers to provide support and opportunities to collaborate.

Costs:

  • Ashoka Fellows: The program is open and participation is free for all Ashoka Fellows in Europe. Travel and accomodation costs are not covered.*

  • Ashoka Support Network members: Members of the Ashoka Support Network also join for free, subject to a selection process. Find out more about the Ashoka Support Network here.

  • Other Partners and Change Leaders: The cost of the module is €2'000. You can require a stipend for your participation, indicating it in the application form.

*In case you require a travel stipend to participate – encompassing flight or accommodation – please indicate in the registration. We have limited travel stipends for participants in need, so please evaluate and request a stipend only if financial reasons hinder your participation.
