Funding systems change for social innovation in Europe
Funding remains a major barrier for social entrepreneurs to achieve systems change, not only in terms of how much funding is available but in terms of how current funding is being administered. Funding systems change requires a different approach to traditional grant making or investment and there is an urgent need for the funding sector to shift towards a more systemic approach so that social entrepreneurs can unlock their full potential for systems impact.
We have been engaging and convening key players in the social innovation ecosystem to help advance the field as a collective impact effort and we are seeking further collaborators in particular among funders and intermediaries committed to systems change. Please get in touch if you are interested in being involved in this initiative and would like to learn more.
We have synthesized our key recommendations for funding systems change in a practical guide based on the perspective of Ashoka Fellows and other systems changing social entrepreneurs, available for download here on the Ashoka Learning & Action Center website.
