Turkey & Syria Solidarity Fund

Turkey and Syria are continuing to be hit by earthquakes, and need your help. Ashoka Fellows Ali Ercan Özgür and Mert Fırat, Co-Founders of Needs Map (İhtiyaç Haritası), are leading efforts to reach the most remote survivors. Through a geolocation and peer-to-peer digital platform, they are enabling everyone to list their needs such as clothing, food, hygiene goods, baby needs, medication, etc. Their work is touching thousands of people every minute right now.

Ashoka Fellow Paul Radu Nominated for the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize

Ashoka Fellow Paul Radu’s organization Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) has been nominated for the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize! Paul has been an Ashoka Fellow since 2018, is a Romanian journalist and a co-founder of OCCRP, an investigative journalists’ network. OCCRP was nominated by Professor Wolfgang Wagner and his students of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Inclusion, innovation and inspiration: The social and solidarity economy

The Final Summit of the OECD Global Action for Promoting Social and Solidarity Ecosystems will be hosted in person at the OECD Headquarters in Paris and online on 20−21 March 2023. The Summit, supported by the European Union, will bring together policy makers, practitioners, and experts to focus on the transformative power of the social and solidarity economy to improve economic outcomes, through innovative business models that build social cohesion and resilience in times of crises and transitions. 

Ashoka contributed to the OECD's Global Action by co-coordinating the Peer Learning Partnership "Respond - Rebuild - Reinvent" that supported 9 city authorities in improving cross-sectoral collaboration with social economy ecosystems and in tapping into the solutions and social innovations provided by social enterprises.

Elders Council Webinar: Funding the Succession Challenge

When considering the vision of an organisation, the succession or transition of the founder is often not mentioned, let alone factored into the funding. In The Elders Council for Social Entrepreneurs' webinar, Rebecca Eastmond provided valuable advice on how and when to talk to a funder about succession, she gives examples of how it can be done well and examples of what to avoid and she answers questions from the audience.

Innovative Solutions for Education: Insights and Reflections from Changemakers Dialogue!

In 2021, Ashoka Italy, in collaboration with the Ashoka Europe Fellowship Program, co-created a learning journey called Changemakers Dialogue! to navigate the most pressing educational challenges in Europe, where peer-to-peer learning could animate motivation, inspiration and innovation sharing. This report introduces the innovations in education presented during these online gatherings and the individuals behind them, reporting the key insights of the conversations and group reflections.
